Loose fill Asbestos insulation is found in the attic or in the wall and it’s a puffy, bumpy deformed texture. Homes before the 1990s had loose fill Asbestos insulation. There are three different types of Asbestos: Vermiculite Insulation, Loose fill Fiberglass, and Rockwool. The most common Loose fill Asbestos insulation is Vermiculite Attic Insulation.

 

•The first common Loose fill Asbestos is: The Vermiculite. The Vermiculite comes in a pebble-like form that the colors are a mixture of grey with brown or gray with gold. Vermiculite originated from the Earth’s crystals and rocks. When heat is involved, the crystals and rocks will decrease in weight and will become feather-weight substance. The grey with brown substance or gray with a gold substance is called Zonolite, and the Zonolite is found in the house.

•The second common Loose fill Asbestos insulation is: The Loose fill Fiberglass. This is when it’s white or gray puffs with minimal shine substance. The Loose fill Fiberglass is very dangerous and this one cause cancer. Loose fill Fiberglass only shines when the sunlight hits it. The other health concerns that the Loose fill Fiberglass can also cause are: irritation to the skin, respiratory issues, and etc.

•The third common Loose fill Asbestos is: Rockwool. Rockwool can be identified with these colors: brown-white, off white, white, or grey. It’s very soft and it resembles cotton appearance. Rockwool originated from the Earth’s basaltic rock and dolomite minerals. Rockwool will need to be handled very carefully.
